I Wanted To Punch Somebody In The Face

Yeah, no kidding.  I was pretty darn ticked.  Most think that physicians are supposed to be flawless and not ever make any mistakes.  They are supposed to have the patience of a saint at all times of their life.  They are wanting to stop everything they are doing when they get a page to deal with a patient’s complaint.

I hate to break it to you guys, but this is fairy tale land, not reality.  Physicians are human just like everyone else.  We get frustrated.  We get mad.  We get tired.  Our pet’s heads fall off.  (ok, just seeing if you were paying attention).

Top 3 Reasons Why People Fail At Home Businesses

Friends, I bring to you the rockstar, David Alcorn, tonight. I was browsing his blog today, and I came across this awesome post.  Of course with this permission, he allowed me to re-post this on my blog.  I think that you will enjoy it.  Without further delay…

ENTER DAVID:

There are many reasons why people fail at home-bases businesses but I think most of those can be summed up by three main reasons.

Please Keep Them In Your Thoughts

I just wanted to shoot you a quick note to say Happy Veteran’s Day to all of our military members, past and present.  Not only is this a note from one veteran to all of my fellow veterans, but it is more of a message to keep those that are currently fighting in an active war zone in your thoughts and prayers.

As I write this, I think back to literally one year ago when I was sitting in Afghanistan, wishing what it would be like to be at home, especially over the holiday season.  After having gone through that trial of being away from family and friends, it really makes me appreciate that much more being home for this years Thansgiving and Christmas holidays.

You Have To Keep Plugging Away

So this past week, I was disappointed in myself.  You see, I have been blogging for the past several weeks, under the promise that I will do it at least 6 days per week.  Well, for the first time in about 2 months, I missed 3 days in any particular week.  Reason being, my wife and I had family in town, and each day was jam packed with activities.

But I don’t care.  I missed the mark.

However, I will not use it as an excuse to give up as so many other people would do in this situation.  They would give in to the temptation to throw in the towel, say network marketing doesn’t work, and become another statistic.

I Don’t Feel Very Good Right Now

For those of you that don’t know it, I am a military physician in addition to being a home business owner and coach.  Well, one of the good and not-so-good things about being in the military is that you have to keep up with the weight standards. Yes, for my job, I have to maintain a certain weight or body fat percentage.   Now, while I agree overall that it is absolutely imperative that those members of the US armed forces stay in shape, the entire system is a bit out of whack.

For instance, there is a weight limit for each particular height within the US Navy standard.  If you weigh more than your allotted weight for your height, then you get taped to assess for body fat percentage.  This is where I personally think the system is very old.  They measure your waste and then your neck, taking the difference, and then they estimate your body fat percentage on a chart.  This does not adequately measure body fat percentage in my mind, but I still have to follow the rules.  Finally, if you make it within the maximum allowable body fat percentage for your age, then you are good.  If you don’t, your career could be adversely affected.

The Greatest Baseball Game I Have Ever Seen

For those of you that don’t know this, I am from St. Louis, MO, and I am a diehard Cardinals baseball fan.  If you have any interest in baseball whatsoever, you were probably watching game 6 of the 2011 World Series as I was tonight.  And holy crap, it was hands down the best game of baseball that I have ever seen.  Period.

Some of you may disagree, but it was unbelievable.  The Cards were down to their last strike on two different occasions, which would have left them defeated.  But no.  They didn’t let it happen.  Base hits kept them in the game.  After battling back twice from being 2 runs down, they came back to tie.  Then, the rockstar of the night, David Freese, hits a center field walk-of homerun in the bottom of the 11th to win the game, forcing a game 7.
