Be That Guy With His “Pants On The Ground”

If you are not a fan of American Idol, that’s ok.  I’m not either.  However, I do find myself watching it occasionally from time to time, and since my wife is an avid fan, I have started to watch the audition shows over this past week.

You definitely see some interesting characters on that show, and the 2009 season was one of the most epic.  It had General Larry Platt feature his made up song of “Pants On The Ground”.  If you haven’t seen it, then you should really check it out.  It is quite a catchy tune.

I’m On A Boat

If you have never heard this song from Saturday Night Live, then you really need to check it out on Youtube.  It’s an absolute classic.  Whenever I get on any type of boat, this song is playing loud and proud in my head.  I feel like Akon is sitting next to me, and we are going to conquer the world together.

And the cool thing is, I’m about to be singing this song once again.  With one of my primary business opportunities, I won a cruise a few months back, and this has me stoked for a few reasons.

Blood Was All Over But We Saved Him

As a physician, you go through some pretty crappy days and get involved with tough situations.  When I was an intern, aka your first year of residency after you graduate med school, I had to do a trauma rotation.  And since I loved trauma, I wasn’t the least bit mad.  However, you do see some pretty messed up stuff.

On this one particular night, we had a guy who had just been beaten behind a dumpster.  At first, he was talking to us and completely lucent, but then we discovered that he had a very severe facial fracture, what we call a “floating face”.  With this type of injury, you worry about the person being able to protect their airway, or keep their airway open.  Therefore, it was decided to intubate (place a tube down his throat to help him breathe).

I Wanted To Punch Somebody In The Face

Yeah, no kidding.  I was pretty darn ticked.  Most think that physicians are supposed to be flawless and not ever make any mistakes.  They are supposed to have the patience of a saint at all times of their life.  They are wanting to stop everything they are doing when they get a page to deal with a patient’s complaint.

I hate to break it to you guys, but this is fairy tale land, not reality.  Physicians are human just like everyone else.  We get frustrated.  We get mad.  We get tired.  Our pet’s heads fall off.  (ok, just seeing if you were paying attention).

Top 3 Reasons Why People Fail At Home Businesses

Friends, I bring to you the rockstar, David Alcorn, tonight. I was browsing his blog today, and I came across this awesome post.  Of course with this permission, he allowed me to re-post this on my blog.  I think that you will enjoy it.  Without further delay…

ENTER DAVID:

There are many reasons why people fail at home-bases businesses but I think most of those can be summed up by three main reasons.

Please Keep Them In Your Thoughts

I just wanted to shoot you a quick note to say Happy Veteran’s Day to all of our military members, past and present.  Not only is this a note from one veteran to all of my fellow veterans, but it is more of a message to keep those that are currently fighting in an active war zone in your thoughts and prayers.

As I write this, I think back to literally one year ago when I was sitting in Afghanistan, wishing what it would be like to be at home, especially over the holiday season.  After having gone through that trial of being away from family and friends, it really makes me appreciate that much more being home for this years Thansgiving and Christmas holidays.
