Sometimes, You Have To Change An Ass Wound | Dr. Timothy Lawler

Sometimes, You Have To Change An Ass Wound

So it’s approximately 4 weeks ago, and one of my patients that I have been following for a long time returns back to me saying…

“Doc, it’s still draining…”

At that moment, my head sags down real low, and I start to become a little frustrated.   I have been trying to tame this sucker for over 4 months, and it just won’t stop.

You see, this person, one of my patients, is a hard charging guy.  He works his butt off day in, day out, trying to make sure our jets are up and running in order to go and kill the bad guys if need be.  But he has been plagued by a crappy disease called a pilonidal cyst.

Now, if you don’t know what a pilonidal cyst is, then you are a lucky individual.  But for those not-so-lucky, it is usually an infected area just around the top of the “butt crack” for lack of a more professional term, due to an ingrown hair, and it sits right on top of the sacrum.  As you can imagine, there isn’t a lot of tissue there so these tend to become very painful.

After trying to perform a few procedures on it to no avail, I then had to refer him to a General Surgeon to have a large area of his buttocks surgically removed because it contained a large area of the infection.   He came through the surgery like a champ, but now comes the fun part…..I had to change his ass wound twice a day.

They are known as wet to dry dressings because no wound vac was available (that’s for another conversation), and it helps the wound heal from the inside out.  You literally have to place a soaked piece of gauze with sterile water into the wound, and make sure that it is taped up well so it doesn’t fall out.   The wound takes quite awhile to heal this way, but it is effective.  Day in, day out….changing ass wounds.   This is what being a doctor is all about :).

Well needless to say, he did great.  His wound healed up awesome, and he is rocking and rolling back to work.

What a freakin’ rockstar.

So what’s the point?

Well, the same goes for your home based business.

From time to time…you are going to have to change ass wounds.  It’s not going to be pretty, but you will learn to help take care of your business because it is sick.  But once you get through the treatment, you will come out stronger, better, and a more competent individual.

Some people will not want to get over the seemingly large task of changing ass wounds, and that is why they never progress.  They let their business bleed out and/or get infected, and die.

Don’t be that person.  Change the ass wounds, and earn some money in the process.

Until next time…
