For those of you that don’t know it, I am a military physician in addition to being a home business owner and coach. Well, one of the good and not-so-good things about being in the military is that you have to keep up with the weight standards. Yes, for my job, I have to maintain a certain weight or body fat percentage. Now, while I agree overall that it is absolutely imperative that those members of the US armed forces stay in shape, the entire system is a bit out of whack.
For instance, there is a weight limit for each particular height within the US Navy standard. If you weigh more than your allotted weight for your height, then you get taped to assess for body fat percentage. This is where I personally think the system is very old. They measure your waste and then your neck, taking the difference, and then they estimate your body fat percentage on a chart. This does not adequately measure body fat percentage in my mind, but I still have to follow the rules. Finally, if you make it within the maximum allowable body fat percentage for your age, then you are good. If you don’t, your career could be adversely affected.
So why am I telling you all of this? Well, I need to make weight so I am doing some pretty drastic efforts right now in order to get there by tomorrow morning. For instance, I have already ran 9 miles today and not eaten a damn thing. As you can imagine, the hunger pains are intense. I am lightheaded. It is not exactly healthy. However, I am focused to make it one way or another.
This story could lead off on many tangents and other discussions, such as I know that it is my own fault for getting to this point in the first place. But what I simply want to point out here is that I am still writing to you tonight. Just as I am focused on making weight, I am equally focused on bringing you content and assistance in your business, at least 6 days per week, through my blogging efforts.
It is not an easy task to blog every day, especially when you are not physically eating, but I challenge you to do it. I challenge you to make the sacrifice and give value to others each day. It doesn’t have to be blogging or even online avenues. If you want to meet with people one on one to educate them about what you do, then great. Just don’t ever stop. If you don’t ever stop, your business will grow like wild fire. It will be amazing. I promise you.
Until next time…
Dr. Timothy Lawler
