Today’s writing happens to deal with a topic that is often overlooked by many MLMers trying to do PPC, SEO, or PPV, but it is SO darn important. I know that when I first started it was something that I just was in denial of. I was like “screw it!….I can figure this out on my own.” And the truth is, you can, but it will either take you way too long, or you won’t be any good at it.
My goal over the next 5 minutes is to give you a starting ground. It is to help you decide how you can find those money keywords to get you the rankings you deserve. This will take some effort, but with the tools and techniques that I provide, you will be well on your way. So let’s get started…
The first part of Dr. Tim Lawler’s MLM keyword research formula is to type in a keyword that you think would be a good term to search for and/or get ranked for, such as, “MLM leads”. Now, as of today, when I type in “MLM Leads” into Google, I get over 1.4 million search results. That is some pretty stiff competition.
So do you want to go after that term? Well, maybe, but you will probably be wasting your efforts unless you really know what you are doing. Therefore, we will try to go after some low hanging fruit. Yet, the point I want to drive home here is to see what kind of competition you have for keywords that interest you, OR you want to get ranked for. The first step is to pull up Google and simply type it in. Usually, a keyword phrase is attainable for generalized results of 100,000 or less or exact matches of 10,000 or less.
If you are unsure what an exact match is, it is when you put quotes around your search term into Google. For instance, if I type in “MLM leads” as my generalized search term without any quotes, Google will find all relevant sites with any combination of the words “MLM” and “leads”. Which means, it could not necessarily even be in that order, as with “leads for mlm companies”.
BUT, if you put quotes around the term “MLM leads”, Google will find all matches with the exact two word combo of “MLM leads” in that order. Make sense?
So, moving on. The next basic step is to then use any keyword evaluator software. There are tons of them out there, but these sites basically do all of the analysis for you. The two best free sites are through Google and Wordtracker. If you just type into Google, “Google keyword tool”, the first result is what you are looking for. If you go to WordTracker, it is a paid service, but there is a free trial. Google is pretty robust though for it being free. Plus, you want to get ranked within Google anyways so it is a good idea to check out the service.
From there, just start typing in keyword phrases and see what kind of traffic your phrase or individual keyword gets. Once you find a phrase with a decent amount of monthly traffic, you can then do the exact keyword test as stated above, with making sure it is below 10,000. If it is, start writing an article with that particular keyword as the title. For example, say “mlm leads for sale” got some monthly traffic of 7,000+ visitors, then the title of your next article could be “Learn How To Make MLM Leads For Sale”.
Again guys, this is a SUPER basic overview on how to do keyword research for your MLM business, but it will get you going. There are many techniques, and none of them are the same. This is just my personal starting ground that I want to pass on to you. If you have any other tips or tricks that you have learned as well, would love to hear about them below. I will be doing videos and demonstrating advanced techniques in future writings.
Until next time…
Dr. Timothy Lawler
